Pachuca is super awesome! Its starting to warm up a bit. only like 80 degrees but just coming from snowy Utah a month ago, my body isn't ready yet. A couple of things have happened this week...
1. Zone activity - We had a zone activity and we basically had a huge water balloon fight and ate some GRILLED BEEF YO! So good! I got sunburned because im guedo/white :( 2. Exchanges - I went to a city called APAN for exchanges. It was warmer there and I was on a bike. My butt is sore now, ha ha. The area is super huge and its in the middle of nowhere. The people are super nice though! I also ran into a car and some people laughed ;) 3. We finally have a Baptismal Date! Its for an investigator named Jesica and she is super wanting to get baptized! Her husband is against our church so that sucks. but she says she doesn't care what her husband thinks so shes pretty cool, if i do say so myself :) 4. Funds - You will soon find out that serving a mission in mexico or central america, will mean that almost 95% of your mission funds will go towards Pepto Bismol! XD haha This week was pretty fun and exhausting but worth it! The mission changes lives. Missionaries go on a mission to invite others to come unto Christ and convert people to the gospel, but you find out that you yourself become your greatest convert! Oh and tacos are the bomb! So my area, Bosques Del Peñar is super cool! The members are still super awesome and feed us too much! As much as i love mexican food, my stomach sometimes takes a beating. We have two investigators, Maria Elena and Mari Carmen. Maria Elena had taken discussions with the sister missionaries before we came. Her husband wasa actually about to get baptized. He had strengthened himself to quit smoking and did it! He had quit for a whole month! His baptismal day was coming up and was only two days away when he suddenly passed away from all the years of smoking. Super hard for his wife Elena, but I think she is now letting herself get closer to the gospel. Mari Carmen is a tough one. Her husband is a member but she isn't. She has had a very troubled past with a lot of things. Some of them making it hard for her to feel forgiven and hard for her to forgive certain people in her life. She wants to feel peace and tranquility in her life and we are trying our hardest to help her know that the Gospel can help. Half of our area is Cerro De CUBITOS. Basically a vertical terrain with houses and very poor people. There are lots of inactive members there because they cant afford to take a taxi to church on Sundays. I also don't know how their beat up cars can drive on roads that exceed a 45º angle! Its like super steep! We are working this place hard and hope to see results soon :) somos bendecidos por estar en esta area. Vamos a predicar y convertir las personas que nuestro padre celestial ha preparado para nosotros! -Elder Dale Pachuca from Cerros de Cubitos Bosques del Peñar area map Elder Rosales and I during our new missionary training... I have made it to PACHUCA! Its been awesome! My new comp (Elder Rosales) is super awesome and he has trained lots of Elders. He doesn't train missionaries, he trains district and zone leaders! Hes super nice and works way hard. Our apartment is super cool. There are lots of members that live nearby, and one lady always wants to feed me! Probably the best thing to ever happen to me! I love the people here because they are so humble. We are opening a new area. The area used to be Hermanas and now we are gonna take all them peeps and put em in the glorious waters of baptism ;) My Pdays are now on Mondays! so this is great! Thank you to everyone who supported me and prepared me for this! -Elder Dale At the Reloj Monumental de Pachuca with President and Sister Kimball! Aight, so this week has been crazy! Lots of teaching fake and one real investigator! The Spanish language is definitely hard. For those of you who do not know, I learned how to speak Spanish from SPAIN. Lets just say, there are many words that are used in a normal conversation in Spain that are very derogatory in MEXICO. haha. The CCM is a very fun experience. Everyone here is super supportive of each other and its been a party with work involved. I leave the CCM on Monday and I'm getting PUMPED! I wanna start sharing the gospel and dunking everybody I can in some holy baptismal water! ;) The best thing about being a missionary, is that the work you do everyday is God's work. Never in my life have I ever had my prayers answered so strongly. Missions are like locks, and patience is the key to open that lock! The food here is great but if anyone ever comes to mexico, Bring some TUMS :) Mexico City Temple Acid Rain here at the CCM! Krispy Kremes, Kinder Sorpresa eggs and chocolates? Thank you mom and Nuri! YUMMMM....
So things are all right here at the CCM. Aside from the food giving every single missionary here stomach problems, its been fun and a WHOLE BUNCH A HARD WORK! I like it a lot. My companion is cool. He has some problems but who doesn`t. Preaching in Spanish is difficult because apparently when they told me i was switching to the 3 week Spanish speaker program, that I would get ZERO LANGUAGE STUDY TIME! AAHHHHHH! Crazy huh! but I'm learning a lot. I have the invitation to baptism and first vision memorized in Spanish! Our CCM president is awesome! he loves us all and isn`t even Hispanic! Straight outta USA! Many Elders here support one another and we have a lot of fun doing it! -Elder Dale My comp Elder Tlacotia
